Celebrating Roald Dahl Day!
Every year on September 13th, we celebrate Roald Dahl Day in honor of one of the world’s favorite storytellers! Known for amazing characters like Matilda, Charlie, and the BFG, Dahl’s books spark imagination and adventure for readers of all ages. On Roald Dahl Day, we dive into his stories, dress up as his characters, and even try some “delumptious” treats inspired by his tales. It’s a fun-filled day that reminds us how powerful and magical a good story can be!
Maths Week was held on the 12th - 20th October 2024 to encourage and enhance a positive attitude towards learning maths regardless of age, gender, ethnicity, background, needs or abilities.
Maths Week Ireland has been held annually since 2006 and has since become the world's largest maths festival, with an estimated record of over 400,000 people participating.
Halloween Fun in 5th Class!
Halloween is here, and 5th class is ready for some spooky fun! From creative costumes and classroom decorations to thrilling stories and Halloween-themed games, it’s a day packed with excitement. We’ll enjoy treats, a costume parade, and maybe even some spine-tingling tales. It’s the perfect time to celebrate creativity, laughter, and a bit of Halloween magic with friends! 🎃👻
Cozy Pajama Day!
Pajama Day is one of our favourite days in 5th class! Everyone comes to school comfy and cozy, ready to learn in their favorite PJs. From fun slippers to fluffy robes, it’s a relaxing day filled with cozy activities, warm drinks, and maybe even some quiet reading time. It’s the perfect way to mix learning with a little extra comfort and fun! 🛌📚
Drawing and coloring our own Christmas jumpers in art class was such a fun and festive activity! We started by sketching out our designs, imagining all sorts of holiday patterns like snowflakes, candy canes, Christmas trees, and even Santa Claus. The classroom was filled with laughter and chatter as we swapped ideas and got creative with colors. Glitter pens, markers, and crayons added a magical sparkle to our drawings. Each jumper turned out unique—some elegant, others hilariously wild. It was wonderful to see everyone’s imagination shine through their designs, making the class feel like a cozy holiday workshop full of cheer!
This Christmas, our students created stunning Nativity silhouette art, showcasing their creativity and the timeless beauty of the Nativity story. Using bold black cutouts against glowing backgrounds of purples and blues, they brought the holy scene to life. From the stable to the star of Bethlehem, each piece was carefully crafted, highlighting the serenity and wonder of the first Christmas night. The vibrant, colourful skies perfectly complemented the silhouettes, creating a striking and meaningful display. These artworks now adorn our class rom, reminding everyone of the season’s message of hope, peace, and the joy of coming together in celebration.
As the festive season brings joy and warmth, our school community has come together once again for our Annual Christmas Food Appeal for St. Vincent de Paul. This cherished tradition reflects the incredible generosity and compassion of our students, staff, and families.
This year, we are thrilled to announce that the food appeal was a resounding success! Thanks to the tireless efforts of our students, we collected an impressive amount of non-perishable goods, all of which will be donated to support families in need this holiday season.
Our students have truly embraced the spirit of giving. Their enthusiasm and hard work remind us all of the importance of community and kindness during the festive season.
We extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who participated in this year’s appeal. Your generosity will make a real difference in the lives of many, ensuring that more families can experience the joy and warmth of the holidays.

The holiday season is a time for joy, connection, and giving, and this year, our class embraced the spirit of the season with a delightful Secret Santa exchange!
In the weeks leading up to the holidays, students participated in this fun tradition by drawing names, choosing thoughtful gifts, and sharing festive excitement. It was heartwarming to see the creativity, care, and excitement that went into each surprise.
On the day of the Xmas holidays, the classroom was filled with smiles and laughter as students exchanged their gifts and shared the joy of giving and receiving. Beyond the presents, this activity brought us closer as a class, emphasizing the values of kindness, thoughtfulness, and celebration.
A big thank you to all our students for making this year’s Secret Santa a memorable and heartwarming experience. The love and cheer shared in our classroom truly reflect the spirit of St. Mary's!

This week, the children explored self-expression through an engaging Inner Self, Outer Self Portrait art lesson. Each student created a unique piece that represented two sides of their personality: the "outer self," showcasing how they present themselves to the world, and the "inner self," reflecting their thoughts, feelings, and dreams.
Through creative techniques like sketching, painting, and collage, the students expressed their individuality and learned more about self-awareness. The artwork sparked thoughtful discussions about identity and creativity, making it a truly meaningful project.

Fantastic 5th Class Project Work
Our 5th class students have been working hard on some truly amazing projects, showcasing their creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving skills. From detailed science experiments to artistic creations and history research, each project reflects their dedication and enthusiasm for learning.

To celebrate St. Brigid’s Day, our talented 5th class students created beautiful artwork using fabric and fibre, bringing the story of St. Brigid to life through texture and creativity.
Using a mix of felt, wool, lace, and recycled materials, students designed vibrant representations of St. Brigid’s cloak, crosses, and symbols associated with her legacy. This hands-on approach allowed them to explore different artistic techniques while learning about the traditions and values of Ireland’s patroness of creativity, nature, and kindness.
Their wonderful artwork is now proudly displayed in our classroom.
