St. Brigid's Day
St. Brigid's Day is celebrated on the 1st of February every year.
In First Class, we made St. Brigids crosses out of pipe cleaners, instead of the traditional rushes. They turned out really well and colourful!
We also designed St. Brigid's cloak. Each group were very creative and included a variety of designs and drawings.
Grandparents Day!
As part of Catholic Schools week, we celebrated Grandparents Day in First Class!
Pupils designed potraits of their grandparents, prepared interview questions for them, prepared a song to perform for them, and invited them into our classroom for a tour!
For those grandparents who were unable to attend, pupils brought a photograph or something that reminded them of their grandparents.
A massive thank you to the grandparents who were able to join us, everyone loved hearing your stories!
Pupils all brought in their favourite toy and presented it to the class. Afterwards, they all had great fun playing all together!
They also designed their very own Late Late Toy show Christmas jumper!
Peter Pan
Everyone absolutely loved our day at the Gaiety theatre to see the pantomime, Peter Pan!
World Diabetes Day
On 14th of November, First class celebrated World Diabetes Day, an annual event dedicated to raising awareness about diabetes, its impact on health, and the steps we can all take to prevent and manage the disease.
Students and teachers wore blue as it is the national colour of diabetes. They also made some blue treats!
A huge well done to Laleen, one of our first class pupils who designed this poster and gave a presentation to her classmates informing us all about Diabetes!
First class were very busy during Maths week! Everyone engaged in a variety of fun and challenging activities to explore Maths all around our classroom and school!
Meet our class teddy, Honey!
Every Friday, Honey goes home with someone who worked extremely hard, showed kindness and helped their friends during the week. On Monday, everyone looks forward to hearing what Honey got up to during the weekend!
First Class 2024-2025
Our theme of the week is UNDER THE SEA
Senior Infants are learning how to tie knots by creating Jelly Fish, Acting like pirates in search of treasure, colouring and drawing sea animals, designing and building life guard stations and sea huts and learning about ocean pollution and ways we can help marine life.
Senior Infants have been inspired by the amazing artist Vincent Van Gogh. We have been looking at and responding to his paintings. We loved the 'Sunflowers' so much that we created them ourselves using a mixture of paint and chalk pastels.
But our favourite painting was ' Starry Night ' so we worked collaboratively to create a jigsaw masterpiece.
First, we picked a piece of the puzzle and had to find where in the actual painting it was and then we worked with one another to colour match and place it all together. Senior Infants worked very well together, they helped eachother, gave advice on colour/techniques, shared materials and even gave eachother encouragement and compliments. I was very impressed on their great teamwork!
& look how amazing their art turned out WOW
