Santry Sports 2013-Field Events

Picture
Congratulations to the twenty boys and girls who represented the school with such honour at the Santry Sports. Great credit is due to everyone who took part and to their teachers who prepared them so thoroughly.

All in all we won seven medals - two gold, three silver and two bronze - which is our best result ever. We also had a few children who finished just outside the medals in fourth place.

Our gold medallists were in the boys' 100 m. hurdles and in the girls' shot putt.

Our silver winners were in the boys' shot putt, the boys' high jump and the girls' high jump.

The two bronze medallists were in the girls' 100 m. hurdles and in the boys' 500 m.

We will be back in Santry again next Thursday 6th June for more track events - hopefully we will do just as well!

Donation of a Defribrillator

A defibrillator has kindly been donated to the school by the Mark Heffernan Trust. It is situated at the school entrance and may be used by the community in general. Let's hope it will never have to be used.

The proceeds from the Wear Your Own  Clothes Day on 31st May will be donated to the Mark Heffernan Trust, which funds research into Sudden Adult Death Syndrome (SADS) and donates defibrillators to schools and sports clubs.

European Cup Medallist!

Ms. Emer Lucey (Third Class teacher) was in Belgium recently with her hockey club, Railway Union, representing Ireland in the European Club Hockey Championship.

They performed with distinction, finishing in third place and bringing home the bronze medal. The children were very excited when Ms. Lucey brought in the medal - it was the biggest medal they had ever seen!

We have just been awarded our third Award of Science and Maths Excellence by the Discover Primary Science initiative.

The new plaque will soon join the other two in the foyer.

Well done to all the children and teachers for another great year of science.

Be at Topper, Donate your Copper!

Fifth Class got on board the Bathroom Renovation Project with gusto!
They set up a mini-company to collect unwanted coppers from everyone in the school community!
So far they have achieved a grand total of 234 euro! Well done to Ms. Malone and Fifth Class for getting so involved!
