The Yellow Flag

Please submit your online survey by midnight on Sunday 24th November or return your paper surveys by Monday morning. This will help the Diversity Committee to address the attitudes of parents to how successfully the school is addressing the issue of interculturalism in the school, and to promote any initiative suggested to improve matters further.
The staff received training on 22nd October as part of our campaign to receive the Yellow Flag Award for intercultural education.
The Yellow Flag Programme provides a practical series of 8 steps that brings issues of interculturalism, equality and diversity into the whole-school programme and allows schools to apply them to the day to day running of the school.
It works with students, staff, management, parents and wider community groups so that issues of diversity and equality are not merely seen as "school subjects" but can be understood and taken outside the school setting into everyone's personal lives.
In parallel with the Green Schools, the Yellow Flag Diversity in Schools is both a practical programme and an award scheme, therefore; on completing these steps, and being assessed externally, the school is awarded its "Yellow Flag" in recognition of its work in promoting diversity & inclusion.

Friendship Week 2013
Many thanks to everybody who contributed to making Friendship Week such a great success last week. Special thanks to Ms. O'Grady for coordinating the events and to the teachers who organised events in their own classes.
Also, thanks to the many parents who came into the school to talk about their own cultures, and particularly those who brought in the delicious food! |
Copper Coin CollectionPlease put any unwanted copper coins in the collection bottle in the foyer.
We are also accept bigger coins or notes if you're feeling particularly generous! |
E-mail AddressesMany thanks to all the parents who have sent us their e-mail addresses. We are trying to communicate with parents via e-mail in order to cut down on paper costs, and also to prevent the problem of notes being found at the bottom of school bags three weeks after being given to the children!
If you haven't sent us your e-mail address, please do so as a matter of urgency so that we can implement the new policy as soon as possible. If you would prefer to continue to receive notes via your child's bag, please let Mrs. Barry know. |
