Aistear
Senior infants take part in Aistear 4 mornings each week. With a little teacher guidance, children develop socially through interactions and play. Each fortnight a new theme is selected which forms the basis for the majority of the learning during that time. So far the themes we have completed are:
- Myself
- School
- Autumn
- Homes
- Halloween
- The Post Office
Since Haloween we have explored many more themes...
- Pets
- Winter
- Christmas
- The Restaraunt
- The Supermarket
The Vets

Maths
Children have responded very positively towards to the 'Ready Steady Go' maths program this year. Ready Steady Go Maths allows all children to be active in their learning. From Monday to Wednesday, with the help from Ms. Broderick we do Station teaching. Each station last 7 minutes and focuses on a different maths concepts. Working with a smaller group for this time gives all children a chance to contribute through discussion and hands on activities. It also allows the teachers to address any difficulties the pupils might be having. It's great to hear so many children saying maths is their favourite subject. Lets hope that lasts!

Teresa and Michelle, the school traffic wardens, very kindly spoke to the class about their job.
Teresa and Michelle spoke about the importance of traffic wardens in schools. Without them, the morning and evening traffic would be extremely dangerous for the children when crossing the road. An interesting fact the children seemed to remember is that the lady's must wear steel toed shoes encase any car rolls over their toes! The children had some very interesting questions to ask the lady's and even got to become traffic wardens themselves for a while! |

May Flowers
