Capacity

We were learning about capacity in Maths. We estimated the capacity of a variety of containers and then measured their capacity using a measuring jug. It was lots of fun!

Fantastic Mr. Fox

Over the last few weeks we have been reading the novel Fantastic Mr. Fox. We created posters to help Boggis, Bunce and Bean find Fantastic Mr. Fox.

Kimmy Cantrell

This week we constructed masks inspired by the artist Kimmy Cantrell.

Andy Goldsworthy

This week we learned about Andy Goldsworthy. He is a British sculptor, artist, photographer and environmentalist. He creates art and sculptures using natural materials.
We collected natural materials and created artwork in groups, inspired by Andy Goldsworthy.

Land Yachts

We designed and made land yachts in groups. We had many materials to work with including wool, string, cardboard, card, fabric, straws and spools. Firstly, we had to design our land yachts, labelling them. We then worked as a group to construct the land yacht. When they were complete, we tested each land yacht using a hairdryer. We had lots of fun investigating which materials were best to use!

Vegetable Patch Prints

We loved creating artwork using lots of fruit and vegetables. We explored the shapes and textures of a variety of the vegetables and fruit including peppers, celery, carrots and mushrooms. We used these with paint to create our vegetable patch prints.

Bridges

We had to design and make a bridge in groups. First, we explored making structures using only spaghetti and marshmallows. We then designed our bridges, which had to be made using only newspaper and masking tape. They had to be 30cm in length and they had to hold at least 1kg.

Symmetry

We loved learning about symmetry. During our maths stations, we engaged with a variety of activities.
  1. Fold paintings
  2. Games on the interactive whiteboard
  3. Sorting the letters into symmetrical and non-symmetrical
  4. Completing the drawing to create a symmetrical picture
  5. Creating symmetrical pictures using shapes

Jackson Pollock

We learned about an artist called Jackson Pollock. He created his paintings by dripping or pouring paint onto a canvas that was placed on the floor.

Jingle Bells Flashmob
