Saint Mary's N.S. Girls Football Team Make it to Croke Park Finals
The Girls Senior Football Team made it to the Cumann na mBunscoil finals in Croke Park. The girls team thrived this year under the coaching and guidance of Ms Lucey and Ms O'Shea and put on a fantastic display of skill, passion and sportsmanship throughout their match. The school community came out to support the girls armed with hats, scarves, headbands and flags. The event was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone and we are so proud of our wonderful teachers and girls. Comhghairdeas libh go léir!

Junior Infants - Mrs. Kalisa's Class
We have had a wonderful start to 2016 in Junior Infants. Our themes for September were 'Myself' & 'My Family', and in October we were learning all about 'autumn' and 'Halloween'. We have been working really hard in Maths on sorting in lots of different ways: shape (2- D), colour, size, thick/thin and roll/doesn't roll. We have been doing lots of great Art including: autumn painting, making collages with autumn objects, leaf rubbings, making scarecrows, painting spider webs, making ghosts, making birds and their nests with bird seed and scrap materials and making spiders to put on Mrs Kalisa's web. We had lots of fun finding bones and eyeballs that Mrs Kalisa had hidden in the sand box.
Our topics for November are 'Pets' and 'In the Home'. Please have a look at our gallery to see some photos of what we have been learning. Thank you!!

Junior Infants
October was very busy in Room 1 this year. We dressed up on the last day of term and played lots of traditional Hallowe'en games. A little boy got the ring in his piece of breac and gave it to his mummy! We learned lots of wonderful poems and songs about Autumn and Hallowe'en... Have a listen to our favourite one! Click on the video below......
We also read "Room on the Broom". Click on the picture to see a link to the story!

Stories from 4th Class
We have had a very busy start to our year in 4th class learning all about Ancient Ireland and the Celts. As part of our work we went on a school trip with 5th and 6th class to the National Heritage Park in Ferrycarrig, County Wexford. Here we learned many things about life in Ancient Ireland with the help of our guide Karina. She is a real expert and told us about different types of houses, ways of farming and how people used to cook meat with the help of very hot fires, rocks and water!
To help us understand more about the Celts, we explored different parts of their daily lives and worked in groups in school to create factual posters. Pictures of our trip to the National Heritage Park and some of our poster work can been seen here.
