4th Class - A busy place to be during term two
During the second term of our school year 4th class have been extremely busy with a number of activities both in and out of the classroom. The term kicked off with preparations for the Passport Project. For this project we learned about all things Italian and had great fun letting children from other classrooms know just how great Italy is. In maths, we have been working hard on lots of different things, including multiplication and division. We even had the chance to put our measuring and recording skills into practice when we measured the school yard.
A big part of our term was taking part in the “Comórtas Claisceadail na Céime” Irish song competition hosted by Gaelscoil Thaobh na Coille. We learned two songs through Irish and sung our hearts out on the day to finish second. Mr. Curry from St. Tiernan’s Community School, Balally, invited us down to check out his science lab and to try some science experiments. It was brilliant fun and we are looking forward to visiting again. Finally, we have been working hard on our “Daily Mile” physical activity, building up the number of laps we do while concentrating on our running technique. As you can see, we have been very busy!

Starry Night
Junior Infants explored the masterpiece of Starry Night by Vincent Van Gogh. We created our very own Starry Night paintings using a variety of techniques, from swirling paints around a page to using marbling inks to create the swirling effect. It was messy work but we had great fun! Have a look at the animation we watched to explore this wonderful painting. We also listened to Don McLean's song Starry Starry Night based on Vincent's paintings.
